Beatriz Santa-Rita
After finishing her Fine Art BA (Hons) at City and Guilds of London Art School focusing on painting and painting installation, her most recent exhibitions include the collective graduate show in 2021 at OXO tower in London and the solo show Painting Box Series at Prisma Estúdios, Lisboa.. Upcoming releases include the limited edition of artist books Fenómenos de Sombra, later this year in July.
The themes transversal to the works involve ideas of fusion on time, scale and narrative. In the paintings, the figurative often acts as an entity and geometry as a-spatial.
The materials used range from two-dimensional surfaces such as paper, acetate and canvas to the use of such materials beyond the 2D and breaking into 3D, evidencing elements around such as light or our own body.
The work deals with ideas of simultaneity of times and memories, as well as the links between the painting process and our own existential conundrums.
It is an investigation of our own place and shape and of the world around, with the textures that define and separate one material from the other.
